Prescription Music was founded by seasoned musician and trainer Steve Toll and his wife and partner, author and researcher, Linda in 2001. At that time, they were delivering therapeutic music performances to people suffering with Dementia in institutions throughout the United States. Since there were so many patients and institutions, the only way to provide this therapy was to develop a program to train the many very capable caregivers who interact with their patients and loved ones on a daily basis. Prescription Music allows caregivers to create and facilitate a therapeutic music program in institutions and homes.

The Prescription Music Healing Power of Music CDs were designed to accompany the Prescription Music Guide to creating and facillitating a Therapeutic Music Program.

Prescription Music also conducts seminars and workshops about the Healing Power of Music.

Prescription Music has also created Prescription Music Radio, including songs and information from the wealth of Americas' rich musical history
Prescription Music can be heard on public radio stations throughout the United States.
